The Rhododendron, a mountain plant whose ideal climate is at high altitude, where the atmosphere is purer and nature becomes wild, is harvested in the mountain region up to Mount Carmo di Loano, which forms a natural border between the Alps and the Apennines. It belongs to the Ericaceae family and is an evergreen bush (up to 10 metres in height) with elliptical-spotted leaves and pink flowers, a typical element of the subalpine regions.

It grows in sunny soils, at altitudes of between 800 and 2000 metres and generally blooms between June and July. The plant’s distribution range is subject to strong meteorological instability even in the summer, which makes the production of a single-flower honey unpredictable and very subject to seasonal trends, with high production costs.
